Though an audition process, headed by the phenomenal, Quincy Jones; Ayo was selected to dance for Nelson Mandela with "KOPENA" upon his (Mandela's) release from 27 yrs. in prison. "In February 1990, President F.W. de Klerk began negotiations to release Nelson Mandela, and in June 1990, we ("KOPENA") danced for Mr. and Mrs. Mandela at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the Mandela Freedom Celebration.
Many well known movie and TV personalities, as well as politicians, artists, musicians, and news media were in attendance at this major event. Words cannot express the vibrancy or the 'joie de vivre' of that moment in history."   for more info.....
